Well, yesterday I hit you with some of the
best of Sydney. And now here's a quick run down of some of the best things about New Zealand if ever you're lucky enough to drop by...
Road Trips
New Zealand was made for road trips. The roads are wide. The scenery's amazing. There's hardly any traffic. Plus the navigator gets to have a cheeky little beer, which probably doesn't help navigate, but sure is nice.
Beaches
As you can probably tell, I love a good beach. And there are definitely plenty of those. We spent a lot of quality time with the beaches of New Zealand. especially the black sand ones on the West coast. Beautiful (but black sand sure does get hot!).
Wineries
We were lucky enough to have a few days in Martinborough on the North island to do a bit of exploring on foot. We dumped the car and explored the village and the 40+ wineries around it on foot. Hiking and wine tasting is possibly my new favourite sport.
And a lunching on a gourmet tasting platter, in the vineyard's garden in is definitely something I'm keen to do again!
Hiking
Now we are in no way serious hikers. We just love a good amble. But the next time we go to New Zealand, we're going to come prepared for more than just a mini hike. You could seriously hike through green, jungley forests, to the top of a volcano, and then go for a little jaunt by the sea all in one day. We weren't that adventurous, but we did enjoy this little hike through
the Putangirua Pinnacles.
It was a little bit hairy at times. Understandably - big rocks can fall on your head any time (brain injury wouldn't be the best souvenir to bring back from New Zealand). But I loved it.
Well, that was the best of New Zealand! Such a great holiday. Are you planning to go anywhere this year? Where and what are you planning on doing?
Lovely! I have in -laws living in New Zealand, but we haven't had a chance to visit yet. Now I REALLY want to go.
ReplyDeleteBetween the hiking and the food + drinks, it looks like the loveliest kind of vacation!
