Live More Create More | how do you stay creative

How do you stay creative via Randomly Happy
OK. I'm going to be brave and admit this here, but I've been useless. When I first started thinking about Live More, Create More I was super keen to start drawing. But my sketch book remains quietly empty.

So I need your help.

I would love to hear how you stay fresh and creative. Do you find time over your lunch hour? Dedicate an evening a week to being creative? How do you squeeze creativity into your everyday life?

And if you're looking for creative inspiration Jordan's doing an absolutely grand job pinning over on the Live More Create More board (how much do you want those white and gold headphones?). She's such a treat!

  1. For me, being creative is second nature. I'm a musician and I love crafts, so odds are I'm being creative all day. But, there's still a tendency to get into a creative rut, being creative only a certain way. So sometimes I end up just creating, rather than being creative.
Before starting Pearls&Scissors, I started to carry around a little notebook. I needed to brainstorm name ideas, jot down projects for features and so on. I was on my holiday and all this beautiful scenery was all around me. So, I took time each day to go and sit at the lake and dream up new awesome crafty things I wanted to try. I've carried that notebook with me ever since, and whenever I have spare time (on the bus, at school, before going to bed), I let myself dream.
Our crafting time is always limited, and it's good to have a notebook full of ideas that you can turn to to make the most of that time. I think dreaming is really the key. Sometimes dreaming about creative projects is almost as good as making them. And having loads of inspiration and ideas is a good start to a creative day.

  2. Dreaming and notebooks! What a perfect combo. There is something about doodling what I'm going to craft, on the same page as my boring to do list that somehow makes me do it. That and my new discovery #creativesunite. Never underestimate the power of community!

  4. I read Marie Forleo's book and have been practicing being present. The more I do that (and really pay attention to whats around me) the more creative ideas I find flow to me. Sometimes just playing works too.

  5. I find it so tricky to stay in a creative mindset. Well, actually, I find thinking creatively easy, but actually doing what I think of is so much harder! I get very easily distracted but I find the best way to get on with the little projects I have planned is to have something much more boring that I have to do, hah. I always find myself baking, sewing or drawing when I should really be doing something else. So a good bit of creative procrastination is my way :)

    1. I'm totally in the same boat, Isabel :D. I get most of my creative projects done when I'm actually supposed to do something else (usually something I really don't like doing). Procrastination rocks!
