Guys, I am so obsessed with this pattern. I may need an intervention.
I used to have a full-on phobia of sewing trousers, but I’m now 100% converted to the joy of making your own. I even fitted a muslin (say what?) – but more on that another day.
Heck, I’m already hunting for my next fabric – maybe in a burgundy twill.
What do you think?
Something to wear this fall – something for kicking leaves and drinking my body weight in pumpkin lattes.
So, I know trousers are intimidating (I managed to sew for years and years and avoided them like the plague) but this pattern is a pretty forgiving introduction to the whole wild world of trousers.
I used the Sew Over It Ultimate Trouser pattern that I first flirted with a few weeks ago.
I made a few alterations using this ah-mazingly helpful post on common trouser alterations.
For the main fabric I used a tobacco coloured stretch cotton that I bought while I’m here in Italy visiting my folks with the bambino.
It’s super comfy, but I’ll be honest, it was a bit maddening to work with. The fitting took forever – though that could be me and not the fabric.
A good workman doesn’t blame her tools, right?
To balance out all that brown I went with some sweet floral cotton that I found in my mamma’s stash. I’m a bit worried it’s all come out a bit too 70s, but I sorta kinda like it.
So there you have it. Nothing but full on trouser love. Are you in?
